Industrial Architecture
Optimise your workflow
Industrial architecture concentrates on delivering the most effective use of space to achieve a specific process or product outcome. The integration of engineering principles, functional design and environmental considerations all contribute to well-functioning, efficient and operationally robust buildings.
Industrial Architecture
Optimise Your Workflow
The generally accepted definition of industrial architecture is that it is the art and science of designing and constructing physical structures that support industrial processes and operational efficiency.
Industrial architecture integrates engineering principles, functional design, environmental consideration of industrial operations.
Our aim is to deliver industrial environments that optimise workflows, support productivity, and are tailored to the unique needs of each project.

Arengo Plastics
An existing warehouse had to be refurbished to house new facilities and machinery for the moulding of plastics. The layout was closely coordinated with the manufacturer, as well as fire engineers to ensure an efficient and safe workflow and environment to produce plastic mouldings.
The project also included some renovations to the façade and office areas to bring the building in line with client requirements.
Jet Park
Graceland Architects has an ongoing retainer appointment with EMM Property Holdings to manage ongoing and new projects at the Jet Park Facility.
The Jet Park facility comprises 8 manufacturing factories and warehouses as well as four office buildings, a recreational centre, testing ground and
wash-bay, shot blasting capabilities, spray booths and parking for 178 vehicles.
The facility was constructed for the manufacture and servicing of heavy industrial underground mining equipment. Each factory is fully fitted with overhead gantry cranes ranging from 5t to 20t capacity. Over time, Graceland Architects has undertaken several projects at the facility.

Diamond Park Warehouses
MASTERPLAN AND CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
A site in Gaborone, Botswana, was investigated to determine possible spatial solutions for the development of new warehousing as part of the SSKIA Special Economic Zone. Options included multiple smaller warehouses with separate delivery / access options, 2 larger warehouses with shared site access, and a single warehouse split internally to allow multiple tenants in a single structure.

Arengo Plastics
Our journey started in early February 2022 where we were tasked to head up a massive transformation of an existing 3000 square meter factory to be our new home for the Arengo Plastics family. The layout of this factory was such, that it would need an external group of people that were specialist in the field and thus our main decision to go with GRACELAND architects, this is where I would meet Hugo (Team leader for this project.)
We had our first site meeting together and I ran all our ideas and aspirations through him in order to reach that goal that we set up for ourselves. The first step – which I think was the hardest, was to set a time frame for this project – as I am sure anyone with a construction, engineering back round would agree, we set this to a year to complete. Hugo and I would then embark on the layout of the facility which was designed around our total production flow – from the amount of parking space required, to the last detail of what grade pipes are needed for the fire department approval – Hugo was massive in his input to the process of which I had to follow – He would arrange the building engineers to assist on site and liaise directly with them to make sure they were according to the plans and on the same projection line as we were , he would deal directly with the fire consultants and arrange all the relevant drawings and make sure that every step was covered and we would have no problem passing the inspection from the fire department.
Construction continued and we were making progress daily, from foundations, fire walls, fire exits, offices, toilets – the list goes on, they even through in an environmental risk assessment that guided us to go more GREEN – to move away from the higher energy products to the more energy saving products that in the long run would save us time and money. As time went on it was great to see our folder get larger and larger as all the drawings from all the departments started to get approved, from health and safety, fire department, building engineers, town council, this was all done by Hugo and his runners, my experience with the drawings and approvals was effortless – absolute breeze from my side, I knew that it must have taken tremendous effort from their side but truly made my life easy at the end of the day. In closing we had the inspection and passed occupancy beautifully with 4 days left before closing in December 2022- looking back on that year and the objective that we achieved, and could not be prouder of the building that we created!!
To Trevor & Hugo – It was an absolute pleasure working with Graceland Architects from the very start to the END, I look forward to our next project together.
