Ignatius Foord
Director
Ignatius Foord, a native of Pretoria born in 1982, pursued his architectural education at Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria, graduating in 2008. Commencing his career in residential architecture, he worked with an acclaimed architect renowned for crafting exclusive housing projects across South Africa. Notable among these projects were developments in St. Francis Bay and the St. Francis Links Golf Clubhouse, an exhilarating Jack Nicklaus signature golf course nestled in the Eastern Cape.
He also undertook the privileged task of designing contemporary residences for his family in the central Karoo, an environment characterized by arid air, cloudless skies, and extreme temperature variations—a landscape to which architecture responded harmoniously.
Transitioning his focus to healthcare architecture in 2011, he assumed leadership at Graceland Architects in 2018, jointly steering the firm toward a commitment to design excellence within the healthcare-built environment. With over a decade of experience, he adeptly completed various healthcare projects, encompassing the design of new hospitals and meticulous alterations to existing ones while ensuring operational continuity with a steadfast commitment to prioritizing patient comfort.
His affinity for spending time outdoors with friends and family reflects his love for nature, a significant influence shaping his architectural philosophy and driving his considerations for the environmental impact of his work.
