I remember wanting to become an architect since primary school. As a profession, it encompasses everything: art, design, technology, humanity, innovation, philosophy. I didn’t realise all of these intricacies until much later. In Grade 4, I just liked the design and creative part.

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I’ve always wanted to have my own business. Finally in 2018, myself and my two brilliant partners realised that dream. Now, I get to combine two of my great passions every day.

I think my reasons for becoming an architect and business owner have changed over time. Where before it was all about the building, now it’s about the people in our building, designing the environments everyone gets to experience.

I guess leading a business is about relationships: making, keeping, improving and cherishing them. These relationships begin in the office and radiate to our clients.

Everyone that works at Graceland Architects means the world to me – more than any other part of our business: their happiness at work is my reason for doing what I do as a co-owner in the business. I want to make sure that when we come to work in the morning, we really want to be here. Equally, I want us all to leave at the end of the day, knowing that we’ve contributed in a way that is intrinsic to our company’s success. I may not always get it right, but I try.

If I can do my best to make sure that those who work at Graceland Architects are valued, happy and fulfilled, I truly believe that this translates into a wonderful experience for our clients.

I want our clients to know that they get the best because our staff get the best.
